Turkmenistan, Ukraine Strengthen Ties in Equine Science and Education

A new chapter in Turkmen-Ukrainian scientific cooperation has begun.

The Aba Annayev International Academy of Horse Breeding (Turkmenistan) and the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost collaboration in horse breeding, education, and innovation, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The signing ceremony took place online, with participation from the rectors of both institutions - Pygy Bayramdurdiyev and Vadym Tkachuk - along with representatives from both universities and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized that the partnership was the result of careful, step-by-step coordination. The Turkmen side had previously familiarized itself with the Ukrainian university’s facilities and its specialized Laboratory of Horse Breeding, which plays a key role in scientific and practical training.

Rector Vadym Tkachuk highlighted that the university is fully equipped with laboratories and equestrian complexes to ensure effective joint research and invited Turkmen colleagues to visit in person.

Meanwhile, Rector Pygy Bayramdurdiyev spoke about Turkmenistan’s major efforts to preserve and enhance the legendary Akhal-Teke horse breed and to promote equestrian sports. He also invited Ukrainian experts to take part in Turkmenistan’s annual exhibitions and scientific conferences dedicated to the Day of the Turkmen Horse.

Both sides expressed confidence that the MoU will give fresh momentum to scientific and educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and Ukraine, paving the way for long-term partnership in equine research and development.
