On December 23 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan's Minister of Education, J. Gurbangeldyev, held a meeting with UNICEF office head Jalpa Ratna to review the progress of their joint efforts and discuss future cooperation in the field of education.
The talks emphasized the development of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and creating conditions for inclusive learning, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmenistan's Ministry of Education.
The meeting highlighted key achievements under the UNICEF Country Program for 2021-2025, including the establishment of a robotics club in Arkadag and the launch of early development centers in kindergartens in Ashgabat and Lebap velayat.
Minister Gurbangeldyev stressed the importance of strategic initiatives like the "National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children’s Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028" and the "National Strategy for Early Child Development for 2020-2025" in advancing the country's educational system.
A significant focus of the meeting was on integrating modern digital technologies into education, creating interactive learning materials, and enhancing teacher training. The UNICEF representative praised Turkmenistan’s strides in modernizing its education system and affirmed UNICEF’s continued support for the country’s educational projects.
Both sides expressed a commitment to further collaboration to ensure high-quality, accessible education for all children in Turkmenistan.
