Turkmenistan, US Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Ashgabat

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has met with US Ambassador to Ashgabat Elizabeth Rood to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.

During the talks, the sides reviewed key areas of Turkmenistan-US engagement, including political and diplomatic dialogue, trade and economic ties, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Both diplomats noted the effectiveness of existing bilateral mechanisms, such as annual political consultations and meetings of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council.

Special attention was paid to the long-standing and successful operations of American companies in Turkmenistan. Joint business projects in the energy, agriculture, and transport sectors were highlighted, with companies such as John Deere, General Electric, and Boeing cited as key partners.

The discussions also explored opportunities to develop new formats of cooperation, with a particular focus on education, science, and culture. The Turkmen side proposed launching a Turkmen-American cultural dialogue as a platform for deeper people-to-people exchanges.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in high technologies and in the banking and financial sector, underscoring their shared interest in broadening the bilateral partnership.
