US Envoy Lauds Turkmenistan’s 30 Years of Neutrality

US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood has said that the US deeply respects and firmly supports Turkmenistan’s positive neutrality and is ready to continue joint efforts to strengthen peace, security, and economic development in the region.

Speaking on the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s UN-recognized permanent neutrality, Rood conveyed warm congratulations on behalf of the US president and people, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

She highlighted Turkmenistan as the only country whose neutrality is officially recognized by the UN, serving as a global example of how neutrality fosters dialogue, trust, and peace.

Rood noted Ashgabat’s commitment to neutrality is reflected not just in its international stance but also in concrete humanitarian actions. Earlier this year, Turkmenistan assisted citizens from 52 countries, including the US, in evacuating conflict zones. In November, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation provided aid to Afghan earthquake victims.

The ambassador emphasized the US and Turkmenistan’s shared commitment to prosperity, peace, and progress through expanded economic and cultural cooperation. She pointed out the importance of platforms such as C5+1 and the B5+1 Business Forum in strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional stability in Central Asia.

Rood expressed optimism about the future of US-Turkmen relations and congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan on this milestone anniversary.
