Turkmen Leader Pardons 231 Prisoners due to Neutrality Day

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree pardoning 231 Turkmen citizens in honor of the International Day of Neutrality.

A group of foreign nationals imprisoned in Turkmenistan was also pardoned to strengthen friendly relations between states and promote mercy and humanity, though their exact number was not disclosed, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

This marks the fourth mass pardon in Turkmenistan in 2025. Earlier pardons include:

September 25 - 225 citizens pardoned for Independence Day

July 25 - 247 citizens pardoned for the International Year of Peace and Trust

March 20 - 321 citizens pardoned for the upcoming sacred Night of Power (Gadir Gijesi)

In total, 1,368 people were released through these pardons in 2025, reflecting the country’s commitment to mercy and humanitarian values.
