Qatar Highlights 30 Years of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality

Qatar’s leading daily Al Sharq has published a feature marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, calling it a cornerstone of the country’s foreign policy and a key factor in its growing international standing.

The newspaper notes that since the UN first recognized Turkmenistan’s neutral status on December 12, 1995, the nation has championed peace, trust, and good-neighbourliness-principles that have earned it broad respect worldwide, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Al Sharq emphasizes that Turkmenistan’s neutrality has been reaffirmed twice at the UN, with December 12 officially declared the International Day of Neutrality. It also reports that Ashgabat will host a major international forum on December 12, 2025, dedicated to the Year of Peace and Trust and the 30-year milestone of neutrality.

The article highlights Turkmenistan’s active diplomacy at the UN, where it regularly puts forward initiatives aimed at strengthening global stability, sustainable development, and international security. The country’s policy of “positive neutrality” has transformed Turkmenistan into an important hub for regional and international cooperation, fostering balanced and mutually beneficial ties with partners around the world.
