Turkmenistan Highlights Neutrality and Peace Agenda at Briefing in Iran

The Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Mashhad, Iran has hosted a special briefing focused on two major themes of the country’s foreign policy - the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

Representatives from leading Iranian media outlets attended the event, including the Maghtymguly Publishing Center, Turkmen Diyar magazine, and the Ulkamiz and Sachag news agencies, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.

The briefing opened with an exhibition featuring books and scholarly works by National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, along with traditional Turkmen decorative arts. A highlight of the event was the presentation of a special issue of ECO Heritage magazine, jointly prepared by the ECO Cultural Institute and Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions in Iran. The issue showcases the country’s key foreign policy principles and its long-standing commitment to neutrality.

Speaking at the event, Guvanchmurat Atayev, Consul General of Turkmenistan in Mashhad, underscored that under President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan continues advancing positive, mutually beneficial international relations.

Atayev emphasized that Turkmenistan’s neutrality is an active diplomatic tool:

“Our neutrality is not passive - it strengthens stability, peace, and constructive dialogue both regionally and globally.”

The gathering served as an important platform for informing Iranian media about Turkmenistan’s international initiatives and further deepened cultural and information ties between the two neighboring nations.
