The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia has hosted an international conference, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality - a key foreign policy principle recognized globally.
The event gathered high-level participants, including senior officials from Georgia’s Foreign Ministry, Parliament, state agencies, diplomats, international organizations, scholars, cultural figures, university leaders, business representatives, and journalists. A Turkmen delegation also took part, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.
Opening the conference, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Georgia, D. Seyitmammedov, highlighted that the country marks this milestone together with the international community. He stressed that Turkmenistan’s model of neutrality stands as a powerful example of constructive engagement in global affairs, acting as “a bridge to sustainable development and prosperity” and reflecting the UN Charter’s principle of peaceful coexistence.
Seyitmammedov also noted the symbolic timing: this year marks the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations, underscoring Turkmenistan’s longstanding cooperation with the organization. He emphasized that Turkmenistan’s peace-promoting initiatives enjoy widespread international support - a fact demonstrated by the UN’s threefold recognition of the nation’s permanent neutrality.
Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, A. Khvtisiashvili, congratulated Turkmenistan on the anniversary, saying its neutrality policy plays a valuable role in strengthening global peace. He also underlined the strong partnership between Georgia and Turkmenistan, grounded in mutual trust and spanning politics, transport, energy, economy, culture, education, and sports. He noted that high-level bilateral exchanges continue to create new opportunities for collaboration.
Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician D. Gurgenidze, added that cultural and humanitarian cooperation remains essential for building long-term academic and professional ties between the two countries.
In a statement, the Turkmen delegation emphasized that neutrality has proven to be an effective tool for promoting peace and regional stability. They noted that Turkmenistan’s “open-door” policy and international initiatives contribute not only to national prosperity but also to strengthening understanding and trust across the region.
The event concluded with a concert featuring Turkmen musicians, followed by a reception showcasing traditional Turkmen dishes.
