Georgia Hosts Conference Marking 30 Years of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality

A scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality has been held in Tbilisi, highlighting the deepening academic and cultural dialogue between Georgia and Turkmenistan.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia in cooperation with the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The conference brought together a Turkmen delegation, representatives of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, members of the Creative Union of Writers of Georgia, university leaders, and journalists. Speakers included Turkmen Ambassador Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and academician Roin Metreveli, and Chair of the Creative Union of Writers of Georgia Makvala Gonashvili.

In his address, Metreveli emphasized that Turkmenistan, by consistently pursuing its policy of "positive neutrality," has earned broad support from the international community and contributes a “concrete contribution to strengthening constructive international cooperation for global well-being and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”

Speakers highlighted Turkmenistan’s active, multifaceted efforts aimed at promoting peace and development worldwide. They underscored that the UN’s unanimous adoption of the Resolution on Permanent Neutrality - for the third time and at Turkmenistan’s initiative - clearly demonstrates the success of this policy and the country’s growing international standing.

The conference also reaffirmed that cultural and educational cooperation remains one of the key pillars of the Turkmenistan-Georgia relations. Joint cultural initiatives and strengthened humanitarian ties play an essential role in building mutual trust and fostering long-term dialogue between the two nations.

The event concluded with a cultural program featuring a concert by Turkmen musicians and an exhibition of decorative, applied, and fine arts - offering guests a vivid look at the richness and diversity of Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage.
