Wimbledon Talks Signal New Era for Turkmen Tennis on Global Stage

On the sidelines of the prestigious Wimbledon tournament, Eziz Dovletov, Chairman of the Turkmenistan Tennis Federation (TTF) and Vice President of the Asian Tennis Federation, met with David Haggerty, President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), to discuss future collaboration.

The focal point of the meeting was the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the TTF and ITF, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

The agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation and promote Turkmenistan’s deeper integration into the international tennis community. The MoU will include training programs for coaches, experience-sharing initiatives, and opportunities for international experts to contribute to athlete development in Turkmenistan.

The officials also reviewed upcoming plans for an ITF Level 2 regional coaching seminar, scheduled to be held in Ashgabat from August 4 to 15, which will include 12 Turkmen coaches seeking advanced professional training.

In addition, the meeting celebrated recent accomplishments of Turkmen tennis, including the U12 girls’ national team advancing to the final of the Asian Team Championship, along with strong performances by the men’s and women’s national teams at various international events.
