Gasoline and diesel prices on the Uzbek Commodity Exchange surged to historic levels, signaling rising energy costs for the country.
On April 6, the price of AI-92 gasoline jumped 3.4%, reaching 13.46 million soums per ton, a new all-time record, The Caspian Post reports via UzEx.
Sales volume increased slightly, from 1,146 tons to 1,399 tons. Since the beginning of April, gasoline has risen over 5.7%, or 727,000 soums.
Diesel fuel prices climbed even faster, increasing 17.5% over just two trading days-from 13.78 million to 16.17 million soums per ton. Meanwhile, volumes sold dropped sharply: from over 12,400 tons on April 2 to 3,800 tons on April 3, and down to 2,700 tons on April 6.
The price jump follows Russia’s export ban on gasoline. However, the Uzbek Ministry of Energy clarified that supplies under intergovernmental agreements are not affected.
