“Aladdin’s Lamp” Without Genie: Unusual Find at Uzbekistan's Airport

An unusual discovery at the international airport in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, has sparked curiosity among customs officials after a passenger’s hand luggage revealed a lamp resembling the legendary “magic lamp” from Aladdin tales.

The passenger was reportedly travelling to Saint Petersburg when the item was uncovered during a joint inspection by customs officers and aviation security staff, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Alongside the decorative lamp, customs officers also found two undeclared ancient coins, which preliminary assessments suggest may hold historical value.

The unusual items immediately attracted attention from specialists, as the case could involve not only a customs violation but also a potential attempt to transport cultural heritage artifacts across borders.

A preliminary investigation has been launched, and experts are currently conducting an examination to determine the origin of the objects and their possible historical and cultural significance.
