English Book Brings Uzbek Miniature Art to World

A new English-language book showcasing the art of Uzbek miniature painting has been presented in Tashkent, marking a major step in bringing this centuries-old tradition to a global audience.

The richly illustrated volume Miniature Painting in Uzbekistan: Strokes of Wisdom has been available since December 8 on major international platforms, including Amazon, Waterstones, and Barnes & Noble, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The book is also being sold through galleries and art boutiques across Europe and the US, significantly expanding the international reach of Uzbek miniature art.

The publication is the result of three years of work and is based on the vision of renowned Bukhara miniature artist Davlat Toshev. The project aims to explore both the historical roots and contemporary evolution of miniature painting, highlighting the philosophical depth and symbolic wisdom embedded in the genre.

The book presents different artistic schools alongside modern interpretations, underscoring that miniature painting remains a living and relevant artistic language in today’s world. Its release through global distribution networks sets an important precedent for Uzbek publishing, as major international distributors typically work only with publishers that meet high standards of quality and reputation.

International distribution is handled by ACC Art Books and Simon & Schuster. A preliminary presentation at the Frankfurt Book Fair also drew strong interest from publishing professionals and art experts, further boosting the book’s international profile.
