Germany Funds Uzbekistan’s Green Future with €9M

Uzbekistan is stepping up its green transition after securing a €9 million grant from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), aimed at accelerating sustainable regional development.

The agreement was signed following talks between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the GIZ office in Uzbekistan, focusing on expanding eco-friendly initiatives and long-term planning, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Officials reviewed earlier projects and confirmed solid progress: master plans have already been developed for 12 districts, while 24 green pilot projects received approval under previous funding.

The new phase will take things further. Between 2026 and 2029, Uzbekistan plans to integrate artificial intelligence and advanced analytics into regional planning, making development smarter and more efficient.

Green pilot projects will also expand geographically, with new initiatives set to roll out in Bakhmal, Baysun, and Sokh districts.

To maximize impact, the program will bring together international and local experts, alongside training sessions, workshops, and seminars designed to build expertise and ensure long-term results.
