Uzbek Doctors Remove 200g of Nails from Patient's Stomach

A 29-year-old man has been hospitalized at Samarkand branch of the Uzbek Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care after suffering severe abdominal pain.

Diagnostic tests revealed a shocking cause: the patient’s gastrointestinal tract contained a large number of metallic objects, including nails and screws, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Doctors decided to perform an emergency surgery, using laparotomy and gastrostomy techniques. Around 200 grams of metal objects were successfully removed from his abdomen. Senior physician Yuldosh Kuliyev said that the procedure took about one hour.

Preliminary reports suggest the man, under extreme stress, ingested the metallic items unintentionally. He is now in stable condition and able to move freely.
