Uzbek Leader Begins High-Level State Visit to Pakistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Islamabad on a state visit to Pakistan, marking a new milestone in the development of bilateral relations.

As the Uzbek leader’s aircraft entered Pakistan’s airspace, it was escorted by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets, underscoring the ceremonial significance of the visit. At Nur Khan Air Base, President Mirziyoyev was welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials. The arrival ceremony featured the raising of both national flags and a guard of honor, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The visit’s agenda includes high-level talks with Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Field Marshal, as well as negotiations with Shehbaz Sharif. A key highlight will be the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, signaling a new institutional framework for bilateral engagement.

On February 6, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and take part in the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum, bringing together leading business representatives from both countries to explore new opportunities in trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.
