Uzbekistan is set to deepen its partnership with Pakistan as President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is expected to pay a state visit to Pakistan on February 5-6, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During his visit to Islamabad, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold high-level talks with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Field Marshal of Pakistan, The Caspian Post reports Uzbek media.
A key highlight of the visit will be the first meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council, marking a new institutional stage in bilateral relations. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening political dialogue, expanding intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary cooperation, and boosting business, trade, and interregional ties.
The agenda also includes advancing joint projects in industry, transport, infrastructure, and tourism, as well as enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Regional and international issues of mutual interest will also be addressed.
Following the negotiations, the two sides plan to sign a Joint Declaration along with a package of bilateral agreements aimed at reinforcing long-term cooperation.
As part of the visit, President Mirziyoyev is also expected to attend a Uzbekistan-Pakistan business forum, bringing together leading entrepreneurs from both countries to explore new investment and partnership opportunities.
