Uzbek Police Dismantle Violent Criminal Gang in Jizzakh

Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan have dismantled a criminal group involved in repeated acts of street violence in the Jizzakh region, officials said following a coordinated security operation.

The operation was carried out in the Olmachi neighborhood of Sharof Rashidov district by officers from the Jizzakh Regional Internal Affairs Department, the district police, and the regional branch of the State Security Service, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Investigators determined that a man born in 1986, known by the nickname “Taison,” had organized a criminal group together with two associates born in 1988 and 1990.

According to authorities, the group systematically carried out violent attacks against local residents, openly threatening citizens with death and creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the neighborhood. The suspects reportedly showed blatant disregard for public order, committing acts of hooliganism in front of a local grocery store, a public area frequented by residents.

During one incident, a neighborhood resident born in 1993 was assaulted, beaten with fists and feet, and struck on the head with a broken piece of glass. Other citizens who attempted to intervene were also attacked without provocation, with the suspects actively resisting those trying to stop the violence.

The injured victim was taken to the Jizzakh branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care, where doctors diagnosed a concussion, a fracture of the right frontal bone, and a nasal contusion.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 277, Part Three, paragraph “g” (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code, and all suspects have been taken into custody.

Investigators also revealed that the alleged leader of the group had multiple prior convictions under Articles 97, 105, 112, 166, and 169 of the Criminal Code. Another member of the group, born in 1990 and known by the nickname “Tutu,” had previously been convicted under Articles 166 and 169.
