Director of the Uzbek Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Abdulla Azizov, has held high-level talks with Wang Jun, Chairman of China's Guoju Medical Technology, and Qian Tie, President of the Tianjin Shenlong Herb Medicine Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Research Institute, to discuss a joint investment project in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region aimed at cultivating medicinal plants and producing pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
In the first phase, Chinese partners plan to establish a state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) complex dedicated to scientific studies and the creation of new pharmaceutical products, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
As part of the initiative, the investors will also pursue scientific collaboration with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
The second phase will involve the launch of full-scale production facilities, translating research outcomes into commercial pharmaceutical products aimed at both domestic and international markets.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to continuing cooperation. Discussions also included the potential to locate laboratory and manufacturing infrastructure within the Tashkent Pharma Park cluster, as well as allocating land across Uzbekistan for the cultivation of medicinal plants used in traditional and modern medicine.
The Chinese side agreed to present a comprehensive project roadmap, detailing the timeline, implementation phases, and priority areas of cooperation.
