Uzbek President Champions Middle Corridor, Calls for Regional Rail Integration

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reaffirmed strong support for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, while calling for its integration with the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project and the Trans-Afghan corridor.

Delivering his remarks at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Gabala, Azerbaijan, President Mirziyoyev stressed the critical importance of connecting regional infrastructure initiatives to enhance trade and connectivity across Central Asia and beyond, The Caspian Post informs via local media.

The president also underscored the necessity of digitizing customs procedures and optimizing tariff policies to improve the efficiency of regional logistics systems.

To bolster economic cooperation within the Turkic world, President Mirziyoyev proposed expanding the activities of the Turkic Investment Fund and launching a comprehensive cooperation program involving both international and national financial institutions.

Further demonstrating Uzbekistan’s commitment to innovation, the president suggested adopting a “Roadmap for Artificial Intelligence and the Creative Economy” and announced plans to host an International Turkic World Expo in Uzbekistan, aiming to promote cultural exchange and technological advancement among Turkic states.
