Uzbekistan Airways has signed a memorandum of intent with two Chinese leasing companies for the lease of six new Airbus A321neo aircraft.
An agreement with ICBC Aviation Leasing covers the delivery of two Airbus A321neo aircraft, while a deal with China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC) covers four aircraft, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
The airliners, configured in a two-class cabin layout, are scheduled for delivery in 2027-2028.
“These are the first aircraft the airline will receive through cooperation with ICBC Aviation Leasing, opening a new avenue of partnership and strengthening Uzbekistan Airways’ international presence in the aircraft leasing market,” the company noted.
The new Airbus A321neo aircraft will feature Airbus’ modern Airspace Premium cabins, state-of-the-art inflight entertainment systems, and in-flight internet access. These upgrades will provide passengers with enhanced comfort and access to digital services.
“Collaboration with CALC is an important step in the modernization of Uzbekistan Airways. We are systematically renewing our fleet, introducing modern technologies, and placing particular emphasis on passenger comfort,” said Shukhrat Khudaikulov, chairman of Uzbekistan Airways.
The delivery of the new Airbus A321neo aircraft will be part of Uzbekistan Airways’ comprehensive fleet modernization and digitalization program, aimed at improving operational efficiency, expanding the route network, and reducing the airline’s carbon footprint.
The introduction of the new aircraft will increase the airline’s Airbus A321neo fleet to 15 units by 2028.
