The Second Uzbekistan-China Interregional Forum took place on June 1-2, 2025, at the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourist Center.
The forum focused on deepening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, boosting interregional collaboration, and expanding investment and business relations, The Caspian Post reports citing Uzbek media.
The forum brought together more than 2,800 representatives from the business communities, government bodies, regional administrations, academic and educational institutions of both countries.
The Uzbekistan delegation was led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev. In his opening remarks, Mr. Khodjaev emphasized that China is currently Uzbekistan’s most significant trade and investment partner.
It should be noted that bilateral trade volume has doubled over the past five years, reaching $13 billion by the end of 2024. The volume of direct Chinese investment in Uzbekistan has increased fivefold compared to 2017, while the number of joint ventures has tripled, surpassing 3,700.
Uzbekistan and China are successfully implementing joint projects in energy, chemical production, mechanical engineering, textiles, construction materials, home appliances, and agriculture.
Particular attention was given to implementing the strategically important China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway project, which has officially commenced. This project is expected to strengthen Uzbekistan’s regional logistics hub role significantly.
It was highlighted that the partnership between Uzbekistan and China serves the mutual interests of both nations and will continue to grow through new projects, technologies, and scientific developments.
Several agreements were signed during the forum, and a joint exhibition showcasing the products of business representatives from both countries was held. The event marked a significant step toward deepening comprehensive partnerships between the regions of Uzbekistan and the provinces of China, once again demonstrating strong interest and confidence in long-term cooperation.
The forum also featured panel sessions on key areas such as science and education, innovation, agriculture, and women’s empowerment, further highlighting the breadth and depth of collaboration between the two countries.
