Uzbekistan and China Sign Agreements on Scientific and Technological Cooperation

During a visit to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation held a series of meetings to enhance cooperation and explore opportunities for implementing investment projects in key sectors.

Notably, an agreement was signed with the agricultural science and technology company Tianfeng to establish a laboratory center dedicated to ensuring food safety, The Caspian Post reports citing Uzbek media. In addition, an agreement was reached with an expert from the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and representatives of Space Techtronic Industries Services (Shenzhen) to create a coordination center that will facilitate the transfer of advanced Chinese technologies to Uzbekistan.

The Uzbekistan delegation also discussed implementing academic exchange programs with Xinjiang Beixin Road & Bridge Group. Negotiations were held on establishing an agricultural research center and developing a joint “New Uzbekistan - China Landscape Design” concept in cooperation with Tianjin Agricultural University. As part of international cooperation and student exchange initiatives, up to 30 Uzbekistan students are expected to be admitted to Chang’an University across four undergraduate fields.

Plans are also underway to establish a joint scientific laboratory between the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and Xi'an Petroleum University.

Additionally, discussions were held regarding opening a branch of Beijing Institute of Technology in Tashkent. The branch is expected to offer faculties in computer science, mechanical engineering, green energy, big data, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
