Uzbekistan Comments on Reports of Citizens Convicted in Dubai

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement addressing media and social media reports about the conviction of Uzbek citizens in Dubai.

The incident involved a mass brawl with eight Uzbek nationals. Following legal proceedings, a Dubai court delivered its verdict on January 21, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

All eight participants were sentenced to life imprisonment, while another Uzbek citizen received a 25-year prison term. The ministry stressed that Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions, together with relevant authorities, are taking all necessary steps to carefully review the case and ensure the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of its citizens abroad.
