Uzbekistan, EU Advance New Projects in High-Level Tashkent Talks

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met with a high-level EU delegation led by European Commissioners Jozef Síkela and Marta Kos, who arrived in Tashkent for an official visit.

The talks centered on boosting trade, investment, and economic cooperation, building on progress made during Mirziyoyev’s visit to Brussels in October, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

EU officials also conveyed warm greetings from European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

President Mirziyoyev praised the successful hosting of the third Central Asia-EU Economic Forum and the Investor Forum on the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor in Tashkent, noting that the events helped launch major new regional initiatives.

This year marked several milestones for bilateral ties: Uzbekistan signed the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) with the EU, held two high-level summits, and completed negotiations on joining the World Trade Organization. Trade between Uzbekistan and the EU has already increased by nearly 7 per cent since the start of the year, and the EPCA is expected to accelerate growth even further.

During the meeting, both sides discussed boosting cooperation across key sectors - from industrial development and transport to digitalization, energy, healthcare, and critical minerals - while also reviewing regional and international issues.
