Uzbekistan, IAEA Ink Roadmap to Strengthen Nuclear Cooperation

Uzbekistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed a roadmap to enhance nuclear cooperation.

The document was inked as part of the 69th session of the IAEA in Vienna, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The document was inked by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov.

The roadmap outlines strategic areas of collaboration, including the development of national nuclear energy infrastructure, the wider use of nuclear technologies in medicine, agriculture, and environmental protection, strengthening nuclear and radiation safety, as well as the training and retraining of national specialists.

The signing marked the practical implementation of an initiative put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during Rafael Grossi’s visit to Tashkent in December 2024.

During the ceremony, Grossi emphasized that Uzbekistan is an important and reliable partner of the agency in the region and expressed confidence in the successful implementation of joint projects. He noted that the agreement opens new opportunities for modernizing the country’s energy sector, introducing advanced technologies, and enhancing human resource potential.
