Uzbekistan, Japan Explore New Opportunities in Trade and Investment

A high-level Uzbek delegation, headed by Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, has met with senior Japanese officials and leading corporations in Tokyo and Osaka to discuss expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The delegation held talks with the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and leading companies such as Sojitz Corporation, Washin Trading, Le.one Co.,ltd, Daido Industries, OMETA, ITO Corporation, Okamoto Corporation, and Masui, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

Discussions with Japanese State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Masaki Ogushi focused on expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation, advancing joint investment projects, participating in the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) for energy-efficient and low-carbon initiatives, facilitating phytosanitary approval for Uzbek cherries in the Japanese market, and enhancing collaboration in the energy and strategic metals sectors.

Agreements with JBIC aimed to accelerate current projects, support new initiatives, and increase private-sector engagement. Meetings with Japanese corporations covered sectors including energy, healthcare, agriculture, light and textile industries, infrastructure, and smart farming. A new Roadmap with Sojitz Corporation was signed, outlining major collaborative projects in key industries.

On August 17, the Uzbek delegation took part in Uzbekistan National Day celebrations at EXPO-2025 in Osaka.

The visit highlighted the strong strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan and opened new avenues for deepening investment and trade cooperation.
