Uzbekistan and Pakistan are taking concrete steps to build a long-term partnership in the leather industry, following a high-level visit by a delegation of Pakistani leather sector representatives to leading manufacturing sites in Uzbekistan.
As part of the business mission, the delegation toured prominent enterprises in the Tashkent region, including ANGREN CHARM INVEST and HAMKOR NUR SAVDO, where they were briefed on local production capabilities, technological infrastructure, raw material sourcing, and export readiness, The Caspian Post reports per Uzbek media.
The visit reflects growing momentum to expand bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in the form of joint investment projects and deeper integration of the two countries’ leather value chains.
Talks primarily focused on the export of Uzbek cattle hides to Pakistan, a key area of interest for the Pakistani side. Delegates noted that Uzbek leather meets international quality standards and is in high demand across Pakistan’s growing leather goods and footwear industries.
Preliminary negotiations have begun to outline terms for future cooperation-addressing supply volumes, transport logistics, and customs procedures.
At ANGREN CHARM INVEST, the delegation reviewed state-of-the-art processing lines and a wide product portfolio. Discussions concluded with a tentative agreement to co-develop deep-processing projects and manufacture finished leather goods for export to Pakistan and broader international markets.
The two sides also explored franchise-based models, where Uzbek-made products could be sold under Pakistani brand labels, leveraging Pakistan’s established export networks and market reach.
Industry officials say this developing partnership is strategic: Uzbekistan provides high-grade raw materials and industrial capacity, while Pakistan brings decades of experience in leather exports and access to key global markets.
