Uzbekistan and Russia are discussing the creation of a one-stop center in Uzbekistan to select and prepare workers for employment in Russia.

The proposal was discussed by Mukhsinhuja Abdurakhmanov, Director of the Migration Agency under the government of Uzbekistan, and Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Alexei Yerkhov, according to TASS.

The planned center would bring several pre-departure procedures together in one location. These would include pre-departure testing, medical examinations, biometric and fingerprint checks, and document verification.

The two sides also discussed conducting some procedures directly in Uzbekistan’s regions to reduce the time and costs associated with traveling to Tashkent.

Infrastructure has already been prepared in four regions to allow prospective migrant workers to take Russian-language examinations locally.

According to the two sides, the main goal of improving the selection process is to create a system that gives future labor migrants clear information before departure - including where they will work, which company they will work for, what conditions they will have, which procedures they must complete and which documents they need to prepare.

The proposed one-stop center is intended to streamline the process for Uzbek citizens seeking employment in Russia while moving more pre-departure procedures closer to where prospective workers live.
