Uzhydromet has issued an avalanche risk warning for several mountainous areas of Uzbekistan due to expected precipitation and temperature fluctuations.

The agency forecasts the risk period to be from January 21-26, 2026, with changing weather conditions likely to increase the chances of snow avalanches in high-altitude regions, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Residents of mountainous districts, as well as tourists and drivers traveling on mountain roads, are urged to exercise increased caution during this time.

The avalanche risk has been announced in the following areas:

  • Surkhandarya region: Boysun, Qumqorgon, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts

  • Jizzakh region: Bakhmal and Zomin districts
  • Tashkent region: Bostanlyk, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts, including the Chatkal mountain range
  • Namangan region: Pop district

Authorities have called on local residents, visitors, and motorists using these routes to strictly observe safety measures, avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk zones, and follow official guidance throughout the warning period.
