Uzbekistan is quickly growing its solar energy sector, with 11 solar power plants currently in operation and more under development.
The country has attracted more than €22 billion in foreign investment in renewable energy, with a target of 54% of total energy production by 2030, The Caspian Post reports citing Euronews.
The Bukhara solar plant alone, with 860,000 panels, can power 400,000 homes. By reducing CO2 emissions by 1.2 million tonnes per year, Uzbekistan is positioning itself as a leader in renewable energy in Central Asia, with plans to export green electricity in the future.
