Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia Deepen Labor Migration Ties

Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to advance cooperation in labor migration following talks between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullayev and Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Labor Minister Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sharqi in Riyadh.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for expanding collaboration in legal labor migration, professional training, labor inspection, and broader coordination in this field, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Special attention was given to the planned launch of Takamul’s digital platform in Saudi Arabia in January 2026, which aims to streamline employment processes for foreign workers. The possibility of implementing the platform in Uzbekistan was also considered. It was noted that the system would enable Uzbek citizens to sign employment contracts directly with Saudi employers.

The parties also agreed to integrate the Qiwa platform, currently operating in Saudi Arabia, into vocational training centers in Uzbekistan and to develop joint professional development programs for workers.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group to systematically develop cooperation on labor migration. The Uzbek delegation was also invited to attend the Global Labor Market Conference 2025, scheduled to take place in Riyadh on January 29-30, 2026.
