Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia Boost Parliamentary, Investment Ties

Uzbek Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva has met with Yusuf Al-Utaibi, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Uzbekistan, to discuss the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the significant strengthening of political dialogue in recent years, noting that high-level visits have become increasingly regular, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Saudi Arabia, along with contacts at international and regional summits, has contributed to deepening bilateral ties.

Discussions focused on enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, including strengthening friendship groups in both countries’ parliaments, exchanging experiences, and organizing mutual visits.

The sides also reviewed practical results in trade, economic, and investment cooperation. They noted the expansion of joint investment projects and major initiatives in the energy sector, including renewable energy projects.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation, healthcare initiatives, and arrangements facilitating Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages were highlighted as important factors in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.

Special attention was given to the role of Uzbekistan’s Center of Islamic Civilization in studying and promoting Islamic cultural heritage, with discussions on further collaboration through research and international conferences.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady development of Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia relations across all areas, including parliamentary engagement, and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation.
