Uzbek Trainees Begin 10-Month Professional Program in Doha

Some 14 young specialists from Uzbekistan’s Namangan region have arrived in Qatar to join a transformative 10-month training program at the University of Science and Technology in Doha.

Upon completing the program, participants will become certified trainers at the newly established Uzbek-Qatari Professional Skills Center in Namangan-a major step in strengthening vocational education and international cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Launched by the Uzbek Embassy in Qatar in 2024, the initiative equips young professionals with internationally recognized skills. In March 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Uzbekistan’s Center for Progressive Reforms and the University of Science and Technology, laying the foundation for the Uzbek-Qatari center.

The center aims to train around 1,000 specialists annually in five high-demand fields: welding, plumbing, electrical work, nursing, and general engineering. The program combines rigorous university curricula with practical training, giving participants deep technical knowledge. Graduates will receive internationally recognized certificates, opening employment opportunities in Qatar, the Middle East, Europe, and the US.

“This initiative reflects the University of Science and Technology’s strong commitment to applied education and our proven track record in upskilling technical professionals,” said Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, president of the University of Science and Technology. “Through our internationally accredited Professional Skills Center, we deliver industry-focused programs that equip participants with skills sought worldwide. We are pleased to welcome trainees from Namangan and share our practical learning expertise. This collaboration strengthens professional development and contributes to the University of Science and Technology’s global educational mission.”

The program highlights Uzbekistan’s efforts to modernize its workforce and Qatar’s commitment to supporting international educational partnerships. The Uzbek-Qatari Professional Skills Center is poised to become a regional hub for vocational development, providing the next generation of skilled specialists with global career opportunities.
