Uzbekistan Sees Over 200 Fatal Workplace Accidents in 2025

In 2025, workplace accidents claimed the lives of 248 people in Uzbekistan, highlighting ongoing safety challenges across key industries.

A total of 849 occupational accidents were recorded nationwide last year at enterprises and organizations. Of these, 50 incidents involved multiple victims, 583 resulted in serious injuries, and 216 ended in fatalities, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Overall, 961 workers were affected by industrial accidents. Severe injuries were reported in 680 cases, while 33 workers sustained minor injuries. The confirmed death toll reached 248 people.

The construction sector accounted for the highest number of accidents, with 234 cases, reflecting the elevated risks associated with large-scale building projects. It was followed by light industry with 47 incidents and the transport sector with 37 cases.

Regionally, the highest number of workplace accidents was recorded in Tashkent, where 153 incidents occurred. Tashkent Region and Andijan Region each reported 75 cases. The lowest figures were seen in Khorezm and Surkhandarya regions, with 16 incidents each.

As a result of violations of labor safety regulations that led to serious consequences, criminal cases were opened against 432 officials, while 241 others were held administratively liable.
