Uzbek police have shut down an illegal online casino in Tashkent that recorded around $4 million in turnover over six months.

Officers from the Department for Combating Cybercrime uncovered a company operating from a Tashkent business center that offered gambling services while presenting itself as a computer consulting business, according to podrobno.uz.

Bets were placed through specially created online platforms. The operation reportedly attracted around 60,000 users from Uzbekistan and the Gulf countries.

During searches, law enforcement officers seized servers, computer equipment, mobile phones, bank cards and cash.

Eleven people were detained on suspicion of organizing the illegal gambling business. A criminal case has been opened against them, and those identified as organizers could face up to 10 years in prison.
