Uzbekistan Slashes Gas Imports, Boosts Exports in 2025

Uzbekistan significantly reduced its natural gas imports in the first seven months of 2025, while simultaneously increasing its exports.

From January to July, the country imported natural gas worth $734 million, marking a 30.6 per cent decline compared to the same period last year, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

In contrast, natural gas exports grew sharply by 38.2 per cent, reaching $438.6 million.

Uzbekistan’s gas imports primarily come from Russia and Turkmenistan, while its export deliveries are directed mostly to China, reflecting a growing demand in the Asian market.
