The Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, met with Jozef Síkela, the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships.
Mr. Síkela highly praised Uzbekistan’s achievements, The Caspian Post reports citing Uzbek media.
It was noted that, due to Uzbekistan’s landlocked status, the ministry is actively developing the information and communication technologies sector, significantly boosting IT services export indicators.
Mr. Shermatov emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with European countries, considering the specifics of the European market. Discussions were held regarding a joint project to provide internet connectivity to remote regions through advanced satellite systems and projects within the “European Union Initiative on Digital Connectivity Development in Central Asia”.
