Uzbekistan Teams Up with Chinese Tech Firm for Smart Water Initiative

Governor of Uzbekistan’s Fergana Region Khairullo Bozorov has met with representatives of Inspur Smart Industry Group Co., Ltd, a Chinese technology company, to discuss potential projects focused on water conservation and digitalizing the region’s water supply systems.

The company presented smart water meters equipped with 4G connectivity, which enable remote management of water distribution and automatically suspend supply in case of unpaid bills, The Caspian Post informs per Uzbek media.

The system also allows real-time monitoring of water usage, ensuring transparent and accurate accounting.

Bozorov stressed the project’s significance amid growing water scarcity, highlighting the need for automated management systems and improved oversight of equipment quality and reliability. The initiative will serve as a pilot project in Fergana, with a particular emphasis on local production of smart meters.

The meeting also explored placing the project in an industrial technopark and informing investors about the region’s existing incentives and advantages.

Both parties agreed to fast-track the project’s implementation and start executing the agreements reached during the discussions.
