Uzbekistan to Attract $140 Million Investment for Major Agro-Industrial Complex in Jizzakh

Uzbekistan's Jizzakh Region is set to receive a $140 million investment to develop a major agro-industrial complex, expand agricultural processing and introduce water-saving technologies.

The project is expected to create around 1,000 jobs, according to UzA.

The initiative was discussed during meetings between Jizzakh Region Governor Ulugbek Mustafoyev and delegations from major Chinese companies.

During talks with representatives of Shaanxi Orange Industrial, the sides presented an agro-industrial development programme covering the 2026-2030 period.

The project will establish modern production facilities in four districts: Forish, Zomin, Bakhmal and Sharof Rashidov.

A key priority will be improving the efficiency of agricultural resource use. Plans include cultivating drought-resistant oilseed crops, introducing water-efficient irrigation systems and expanding nursery farming.

The investment programme also envisages the construction of an oilseed processing plant with an annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes, as well as a biofertilizer production facility capable of manufacturing 50,000 tonnes per year.

In addition, the project includes manufacturing pipes and equipment for drip irrigation systems, helping meet the agricultural sector's demand through locally produced goods.

The initiative is expected to increase the processing of local raw materials, boost the added value of agricultural products and expand exports.

The discussions also covered the phased implementation of the project, including land preparation and the development of engineering and utility infrastructure.

The parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation to support the implementation of the investment initiative.
