Director of Uzatom Azim Akhmedkhadjaev has announced that Uzbekistan will soon initiate public hearings regarding the proposed construction of a nuclear power plant.
Akhmedkhadjaev made these remarks during the World Atomic Week conference in Moscow, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Akhmedkhadjaev said the country has prepared a “comprehensive and large-scale” framework for these hearings, which will include contributions from international experts to present the plan to the public clearly. “We will not proceed without considering public opinion,” he emphasized.
The upcoming hearings are designed to collect feedback from citizens to refine the project’s design and address any concerns or suggestions before moving forward.
He also noted that residents of the Jizzakh Region, where the plant is slated to be built, have expressed support for the project and are looking forward to the start of construction.
