Uzbekistan recorded a sharp rise in international arrivals during the first eight months of 2025, welcoming 7.5 million foreign nationals.
This represents a 49.1 per cent increase-or nearly 2.5 million more visitors-compared to the same period in 2024, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The figures underscore Uzbekistan’s growing reputation as a regional tourism and cultural destination, as well as its strengthening economic and cross-border ties.
Visitors Mostly from Neighboring Nations
The majority of travelers came from neighboring Central Asian countries:
Kyrgyzstan: 2.16 million
Kazakhstan: 1.77 million
Tajikistan: 1.7 million
Other significant contributors included:
Russia: 663,300
Afghanistan: 304,500
Turkmenistan: 243,500
From non-regional countries, the largest numbers of visitors arrived from:
China: 135,400
Türkiye: 113,100
India: 42,300
South Korea: 30,000
Other countries: over 349,000 combined
Why They Visited
According to the data, the majority of foreign arrivals-over 5.16 million-were for family or personal visits. Other travel purposes included:
Tourism: 1.15 million
Business travel: 837,500
Commercial activity: 287,700
Medical treatment: 62,000
Education: 14,200

The significant rise in international tourism suggests Uzbekistan is becoming increasingly accessible and attractive for travelers from both the region and beyond. Ongoing infrastructure development, visa liberalization policies, and cultural promotion are likely contributing to this upward trend.
