Armenia plans to introduce the teaching of the Azerbaijani language at three general education schools during the 2025-2026 academic year.
The initiative is part of the country’s state program aimed at promoting the study of foreign and regional languages, The Caspian Post reports via Armenian media.
Currently, Armenian schools participating in the program offer classes in Azerbaijani, Turkish, Persian, and Georgian.
According to the national education standard, Armenian high school graduates are required to communicate confidently in at least two foreign languages, understand a range of texts - including those with professional terminology - and express their ideas clearly in both oral and written form.
Under the new framework, Azerbaijani and Turkish will be taught to pupils in grades 10-12, while Persian and Georgian may be introduced starting from grade 5.
