Armenia's lucrative apricot export industry remains overwhelmingly dependent on the Russian market, with more than 80% of export revenue coming from a single destination.

The figures suggest Armenia could lose over 80% of its apricot export earnings if shipments to Russia were disrupted, Gazeta.ru reports.

Apricot exports are highly seasonal, with Armenian producers supplying international markets between May and September or October each year.

Last year, Armenia earned $12.2 million from apricot exports worldwide. Russia accounted for $10.3 million of that total, representing 83.9% of the country's export revenue from the fruit.

Other destinations for Armenian apricots included Georgia, which imported $540,600 worth of the fruit, Belarus with $205,900, and the United Arab Emirates, which purchased $62,900.
