Armenian Government Approves Draft Law on EU Accession

The government of Armenia has approved a draft law initiating the process of the republic’s accession to the European Union.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 9, The Caspian Post reports, citing Interfax.

According to the document, Armenia officially «announces the start of the process of accession to the EU».

The country’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stressed that the final decision on this issue can only be made in a national referendum.
