Armenian Ombudsperson meets with European Court of Human Rights President

Anahit Manasyan, the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsperson) of Armenia, met with Mattias Guyomar, the President of the European Court of Human Rights, during her visit to Strasbourg.

European Court of Human Rights Judge Vahe Grigoryan and Deputy Registrar of the court Abel Campos were also present at the meeting, The Caspian Post reports citing Armenpress.

“The discussions focused on the cooperation between the Human Rights Defender and the European Court of Human Rights, issues related to the implementation of ECtHR judgments, the main challenges in the field of human rights at the national level, as well as ways to improve the effectiveness of rights protection,” the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia stated in a press release.

The parties also exchanged views on contemporary challenges related to human rights and institutions engaged in rights protection. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue cooperating, aiming to strengthen dialogue and enhance human rights protection systems.
