Drug Charges Lead to Arrest of Armenian Ambassador’s Brother

Mkrtich Mkrtchyan, the brother of former Constitutional Court minister and newly appointed Armenian ambassador to the US, Narek Mkrtchyan, has been detained in Parakar on suspicion of drug possession.

The incident occurred when police stopped a vehicle carrying Mkrtchyan and a companion, The Caspian Post reports via Armenian media.

Upon seeing law enforcement officers, his friend fled the scene, leaving behind a bag containing drugs and a firearm. Mkrtchyan was then taken into custody.

Armenian authorities have not released any official statements regarding the arrest yet.
