Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that citizens of Armenia could travel to the European Union without visas within the next two years, signaling a major step forward in Armenia’s ties with Europe.
Speaking during a campaign meeting with voters, Pashinyan said the visa liberalization issue “will be resolved within no later than two years”, The Caspian Post reports via Meduza.
“By then, all you’ll need is your passport and a ticket,” he told supporters.
Official talks on visa liberalization between Armenia and the EU began in 2024. Under the agreed roadmap, both sides are currently working closely on reforms related to security, governance, and data protection.
If the current pace of reforms continues, visa-free travel for Armenian citizens could become reality in the coming years. The final decision will depend on approval from the European Commission and the European Parliament after all required criteria are fulfilled.
