At a National Assembly session on Wednesday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told MPs that the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project does not pose an obstacle to Georgian transit.

Pashinyan, in particular, responded to ruling majority faction lawmaker Shirak Torosyan’s remark that many in Georgia consider TRIPP a serious threat to Georgian transit, which, presumably, may become secondary, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.

According to him, this situation should be viewed more broadly, in particular, in the context of cargo transportation from China to the European Union via the South Caucasus.

“It’s about goods worth trillions of dollars, and even the 20 railway and road routes passing through the countries of the South Caucasus will not be able to service such a flow,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan should view regional communications as a joint opportunity.

“If the three countries can turn the region into an appealing and safe route for cargo transportation, their revenues will increase significantly,” the Armenian PM said.

Pashinyan, who has just returned from Georgia, assured that his colleagues in Tbilisi share the same opinion.
