In a related update, AZAL also resumed flights between Baku and Tabriz on September 4, marking the airline’s first direct service to the northwestern Iranian city in several years.
“The Baku-Tabriz-Baku route will initially operate twice a week,” Alizada stated. “And beginning this Saturday [September 6], the Baku-Tehran-Baku service will also be restored on a regular schedule.”
The reestablishment of these air routes is expected to facilitate people-to-people ties, increase tourism and trade, and strengthen bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.
